About 24 hours prior to their first appearance of the new season in the Ballsporthalle, the OPEL SKYLINERS Dance Team had their three hours final training at the Titus Therme, Frankfurt. The girls not only went through every single dance again and made last corrections, they were also thinking about the upcoming season. Last chance to get in the right mood - best done through joking, laughing and having a good time.
Tanja Schumann, cheerleader coordinator and coach in one person, talkes about what the cheerleaders from the OPEL SKYLINERS Dance Team are expecting from the new season.
How many cheerleader form the OPEL SKYLINERS Dance Team this season?
After the tryout in August, we are now 20 girls.
How often do you train?
Right now, in the hot phase prior to season start we are practicing four time a week for about 3 hours. Once the season has startet we will probably practice about two or three times a week.
Will there be any new dances?
We have practiced a lot of new dances, however, I don't want to tell too much right now. Just come to the Ballsporthalle and find out!
On Friday, you will be in the ballsporthalle for the first time after the season break. Are you excited?
I am very excited - in a positiv sense, though. After weeks of hard training, we can finally show what we have been working. It's going to be especially thrilling for the new girls in our Dance Team. Still, even for the "old ones" all that excitement is coming back. After all, nobody know how the new dances will come across and if everything comes out right.
How do you rate the opponent team for Friday?
When I hear Trier, I have to think of Carl Brown. He is Trier's pivot, and it is key for us to stop him. Trier has never been an easy opponent for us, but our players will be highly motivated and certainly want to come off as winners in their first game.
What do you think about the new team?
I know the guys fron daily contact in our office. They are super nice guys, even though all of them have a different character. It seems like they are complementing one another perfectly in the team. They are all having fun, love what they do and are bringing this feeling into their play.
What do you wish for Friday?
That, in spite of all the excitement, we will all have fun dancing. Otherwise it would be difficult for us to get the fun across and create a good mood within the audience. For the team and the fans we are hoping for a win and a marvellous atmosphere.
