The 27 year-old US American Ray Weathers had his last stop with Peristeri Athen and is supposed to stay in Frankfurt with the OPEL SKYLINERS for the remaining season. With his 1.93 meters in height he will be playing on positions 2 and 3.
Weathers is considered a strong defensive player with very good shooting skills from outside, who can nonetheless also press hard and drive to the basket. As guard with leader skills and thanks to his quickness and agility with the ball he is able to put his team mates efficiently in scene and arrange for optimal constellations in the team?s defensive and offensive play.
OPEL SKYLINERS head coach Gordon Herbert: "I have watched Weathers play during the summer league prep camp in Dallas, which also Pascal Roller and Robert Maras took part in. Weathers is a very good athlete, who possesses outstanding qualities in, both, defense as well as offense. He is a good allrounder and a very aggressive player."
Ray Weathers started his career at Michigan State Universitat (1994-1996) in the NCAA. Via Ft.Wayne Fury (1997-1998) the 27 year-old moved to UBBC Basket Swans Gmunden in Austria (1998-1999). In summer 1999, he played in the summer camp for the Detroit Pistons. Further stops were then Almere Basketball in the Netherlands (1999-2000), Niigata Albirex in Japan (2000-2001) and one year later the Sioux Falls Skyforce (USA, CBA) and Trotamundos de Carabobo (Venezuela). Last season, Ray Weathers played in the first league in Greece with former Euroleague opponent of the OPEL SKYLINERS Peristeri Athen.
